Paint Me
Paint me a picture of peace
Of summer sunlight on the trees
Soft still-life stirred by the breeze
Swans swimming silently on a stream
Even I can have that dream
Null times nought
Is what I got
Instead
Paint me a picture of war
On a canvas used before
Naked hatred to show the horror
In black, white and red strokes
Spinning wheels with smoking spokes
New face and nothing more
I've seen the picture before
Of summer sunlight on the trees
Soft still-life stirred by the breeze
Swans swimming silently on a stream
Even I can have that dream
Null times nought
Is what I got
Instead
Paint me a picture of war
On a canvas used before
Naked hatred to show the horror
In black, white and red strokes
Spinning wheels with smoking spokes
New face and nothing more
I've seen the picture before
