Unreally a Revert

Someone told told me Unreal Tournament 2004 - Editors Edition was out, so, again, like a donkey after a carrot, I whipped out and bought it, just like all the other Uneal games of the past. And just like all the other versions, I get it home and my computer is lacking in something. That fact inspired me to coin one of my flippant sayings, "The game cost me 80 bucks then it cost me 500 more to play it." This time, it required a dvd player and 5.5 gigs of hard-drive to play it.
5.5 GIGS!!
I know a lot of people probably have big hard-drives these days, but I got mine way back in the stone-age of last year, back when 8 gigs of memory was enough. (Don't laugh, it'll happen to you...in about eight months)
So I reformat my puter, down to the bare nodes, and load the game. It plays, but not very smooth...on-line is out of the question...I can use the editor but I'll have to delete some maps...wait a minute...the editor was the reason I bought it in the first place. I can hardly use it!! In fact, I can't do anything else, because there's no room. I can only kinda play the game.
Hmmmm....seems I got sucked in again. I now know why they call it Unreal.
Time to upgrade...
But wait! I get an idea! Errrrrrrg...PLOP!
I rip out UT2004, ththththrp; rifle through my cds, fling!fling!fling! past UT2003, fling! fling! back to the original Unreal Tournament.
I installed it, and now have a ton of room left over. As well, I can set the game up with all the bells and whistles and still get lightning frame rates. And I can dig out my old maps to play again.
Heck, next I may even take a look-see for my original Civilization game on a three and a half meg floppy. Or go bck to DOS! (HA)
I never though being a revert would feel so good, but it does!
