Remember Her When

The briar and the bramble
Are often inclined to gamble
When odds were in their favor
That they had the will and power
To twist around an innocent flower
And strangle its' endevour

So they spread thru the flora
Feeding on weeker weed corpses
And setting roots along the way
Until the entire field was full
Thick with thorn and thistle tombs
Where once her young body lay

The berries that painted her lips
Have become barren and brown
The flowers she wore in her hair
Can no longer be found
The tree where we carved our names
Lies rotting on the ground

The vulture and the raven
Are inclined to be brave when
The odds are in their favor
'Tho they are far from starving
When they raid the nest of a starling
They can't help their behavior

So they float over the terrain
Claiming carrion without blame
Always wanting a little more
Stabbing shrieks emenate wrath
Thru every patch and path
Where once she used to explore

She followed the streams and brooks
Where-ever they would wend
She strolled along a cliff ledge
Wondering if she would mend
And she never stopped a search
Until she reached the end

Poets Prayer

Like a song is sprung
Off a tongue
Just to reach a hurt
Lord grant me a clue
What I should do
To say the right words

Like a stone in a sling
Flies from a fling
Through space and time
Lord grant me the patience
To do my sentence
And stay between the lines

Like a seed in spring
Does its' thing
Just to reach an age
Lord grant me another day
To go my way
And fill another page
